We’re looking for new performers and designers to sign up for three 8-minute auditions with panels of Artistic leaders across the province. These “Speed Panels” are for new and emerging artists who feel they are not yet known (or well known) by the local theatre community.
Selected participants will audition in front of a panel of local Artistic Directors onsite at Alderney Landing in Downtown Dartmouth on Friday, February 13th 2026. These Artistic Directors will be split into three separate rooms based on their shared mandates or similar styles: CONTEMPORARY, CLASSICAL/MUSICAL, and NEW CREATION/COLLABORATIVE. Participants will have the chance to audition for multiple panels in multiple rooms. Selected artists can use their time as they see fit -- to perform an audition, pitch a project, share their portfolio, or chat about the kind of work they are interested in.
We have an extremely limited number of spaces available for these panel auditions and will be prioritizing new artists at this time. Hopefully we can expand this project in future to accommodate more artists. We are especially keen to support artists from communities that are currently underrepresented in Canadian theatre (including but not limited to IBPOC and Deaf and disabled artists) and will be prioritizing these artists for auditions. To maximize exposure, all applications will be shared with all Panelists, regardless of whether artists are chosen for an audition or not.
To ensure you are prepared for the experience, all participants are required to attend our Audition Prep Study Group on Thursday, February 12th 2026 from 2-4pm. Guided by Jade and Drew Douris-O'Hara (Shakespeare by the Sea's Artistic Associate and Associate Artistic Director), this introductory workshop will provide artists with all the basics of attending an audition: including the practical details of the submission process, what to expect when walking into "the room" and how to be your most confident self in any audition! This workshop contains a Q&A component to allow for all participants to ask their burning questions about the process of auditioning.
Deadline to submit is Wednesday, January 22nd 2026 by midnight. Successful applicants will be notified via email by Wednesday, January 29th 2026. Auditions will take place between 11:30am and 1:30pm on Friday, February 13th 2026.
If you have any questions or require any assistance in filling out this form, please email me at Kat@EasternFrontTheatre.com and we will accommodate you!
