FIRST DATE LAST DATE
First Date Last Date is a playful exploration of relationships set inside a local Halifax hotspot. Using elements of storytelling, poetry, and clown the quartet of performers delves into the ever changing intricacies of love, sex, and romance. Winners of the ‘Fringiest Fringe Award’ at the 2017 Halifax Fringe Festival, Tea Time Creation Co is delighted to bring their work back on its feet inside a local Halifax Bar - - whenever it’s safe to be allowed back inside a bar together. Until then, be safe, much love!
MEDIA FOR FIRST DATE LAST DATE:
Flirt with First Date Last Date Untraditional, playful and intimate, Tea Time Creation Company creates a little magic. The Fringe Festival is an opportunity to showcase the unconventional, so who says you can't have a play in a bar? "Theatre is a kind of ritual and so is going out for drinks with a friend or loved one," says performer and co-creator of First Date Last Date, Ailsa Galbreath. "By having the show at Good Robot, we are hoping to blend the two." Collectively created by the Tea Time Creation Company, this 25-minute show is about love and connection and is sure to be pretty Fringey. "We wanted to create something bite-sized, something intimate and playful, and not necessarily traditional theatre," says Galbreath. "Audience members can expect to be taken on a gentle ride that includes lots of storytelling, a little singing,a little dancing and hopefully a little magic. Flirtatious and funny is what we're after." Cozy up with a delicious brew and watch the show unfold. - Michael Lake (2017) First Date Last Date (Good Robot). See this show. James, Gina, Katie and Ailsa have such a natural chemistry and physical shorthand this sweet treat of a show flies by. The subject matter could very easily have veered into saccharine and overly sweet or depressing territory, but the 4 of them keep their hands firmly on the wheel. Strong ensemble work and performances have me working up the courage to ask for another date. - LAURA THORNTON (WHALESONG THEATRE COMPANY) |
First Date, Last Date -I managed to squeeze this one into this evening's shows, and am I ever glad I did! This quartet, made up of Ailsa Galbreath, Gina Thornhill, Katie Dorian, and James MacLean, is like a breath of fresh air. You instantly feel a buoyancy from the moment you sit down, as if you've just walked into a room where you know and love every soul in it, even if they are all strangers. There is an openness and a vulnerability to this performance, combined with it being in such an intimately sized space, that you feel like you are part of it with them. If you have ever felt love, there is something for you in this show.... honest moments that everyone can relate to. A truly lovely show. Don't miss out.
