Education and Outreach

Eastern Front Theatre is committed to public education and outreach programs that raise public awareness and cultural understanding of Atlantic Canadian theatre.  Eastern Front seeks to engage and involve the community at large.  When appropriate, free performances are offered to specific community organizations.

Ten-Minute Play Contest

Now in its eight year, the Ten-Minute Play Contest is a highlight of the SuperNova Theatre Festival.  To inspire and encourage young people to write original works for the stage, the Ten-Minute Play Contest is open to senior high school students in the province of Nova Scotia (grades 10-12).

Three winning playwrights have their plays rehearsed and given a staged reading by professional actors at the festival. The contest provides high school playwrights the opportunity to work with professional theatre artists and explore the many aspects of live theatre.

Deadline is March 31, 2010.  For contest details and submission form click on the pdf, Ten Minute Play Contest Application Package.

Student Matinees

Bring your classroom to Eastern Front Theatre!

Eastern Front Theatre’s student matinees entertain, educate and foster a life long appreciation of live theatre.  Student matinees are closed to the public and can include a question and answer period following the performance with members of the production team.

For only $10 a student, an Eastern Front school matinee is wonderful value and a great opportunity to engage students through an alternative medium.

Teachers are invited to Preview Nights to meet our staff and watch the production for free prior to bringing students to the show.

Eastern Front Theatre was pleased to hold 10 sold-out school matinees during the 2008-2009 season.

For show descriptions, matinee dates and times, please contact Nancy Morgan at (902) 466-2769 or admin@easternfronttheatre.com.

Please note matinees are presented without language or content editing.
